There is nothing magical about this unicorn.
Starbucks is just trying to distract from the crisis in their stores.
Instead of focusing on shorter wait times and affordable menu items, the company is resorting to gimmicks and insisting a $9 drink is reasonable and affordable.
Starbucks continues to make poor decisions and chase trends – from failed AI attempts that did nothing to enhance the coffee house experience, to introducing new beverage components that may cause health issues for workers.
Starbucks’s branding as a “progressive”, “do-good” company is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
Instead of listening to the baristas that fuel its profits, Starbucks continues to be the biggest violator of labor rights in modern history.
Instead of paying workers a living wage, CEO Brian Niccol makes more than 1,000 times the average Starbucks barista and commutes to work in a company-funded private jet. All while workers aren’t getting enough hours to qualify for benefits.
Baristas are the key to Starbucks’s success. We know the issues in our stores better than anyone, and we have real solutions for fixing them. It’s time for Starbucks to finalize a fair union contract with better staffing and hours, higher take-home pay, and the on-the-job protections we need to do our jobs.
